Living with a roommate

Remember in ‘Moving into Dorms’ I let you know how worried I was about who I was going to have to room with, well, it’s all the way bad! I’m an easy person to get along and I’m accepting of others knowing we are all created equally but different in many ways. I have an interest in most things so it’s easy to relate to most people. There are a few pet peeves I have, however, and it seems my roommate possess most of these pet peeves. Why me?

Music and I have a great relationship. I love most kinds of music! Two things I’m not so fond of, heavy metal (unless it’s raw talent) or hard core gangsta’ rap (unless it’s old school)! My roommate and I had this discussion, I told her it distracts me and makes me a bit tense. She agreed it bother her as well. Well, she has her favorite music downloads and plays them often. The music goes from something we both like to heavy metal then to hard core gangsta’ rap then back to heavy metal. Ugh! I was so excited thinking we were on the same page. I guess not.

The other big no-no with my roommate is that she is a mess! Clothes everywhere, food wrappers left out, old soda cans and such! I’m surprised our room doesn’t smell. So, I lied, yup I did! I told her I had horrible allergies as well as asthma and that dust is a big factor in my health complications. We will see if she takes heed to that! Only time will tell.

Okay, it’s not all bad, my roommate is very sweet, uber cool, and she is very smart. I believe if I’m patient with her and get past her bad choice in music and cleaning habits we will do just fine. She has taken some of the courses that I have taken and may be a great benefit as a study partner. Again, time will tell.

What should major in?

As discussed in ‘What classes should I take my first semester?’ I told you I was interested in majoring in business or marketing. I’ve been taking college courses for a minute now and think business management would cover a broader range, so I’m headed in that direction at this time. Heading in this direction calls for a plan of action, however… Business Management just won’t do by itself.

According to an article I read, ‘What should I major in…?’, the best majors in this day in age is biomedical sciences, biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, computer engineering, and electrical engineering with a focus on staying Green! With this information and this day and age I have to study my options but gear it in the direction in which best suits me.

I have research to do, and it won’t hurt to revisit the counselor’s office to see what major best suit the direction in which I’m headed. My parents will be most proud that I’m really thinking of my future and not just in the moment. I will let you know how all my research goes and let you know in which direction I go in regards to choosing my major.

Do you have any good tips on choosing which major is best for one’s needs? Please share by commenting below.

Starting college mid year

Who starts college mid year? ME! Starting mid year was not my first choice, but I had to take a break from school to work and get some extra moola! At times I wish things were easier and I didn’t have to worry so much about working for extra money while going to school. I want to concentrate on school and finish without so many distractions. There will always be this bill or that bill regardless, and ‘it is what it is’, as the saying goes.

Not only has starting college mid year put me that far behind, but it stresses my parents out as well. They help me with what they can but they’re constantly reminding me that living with them free room and board should set me in the right direction and my needs for cash should be non-existent. Do they realize I have to have a social life, that I need gas money to get around, that I have bills like a car note, what else… the list goes on and on. Don’t get me wrong I’m thankful for their help, I just wish they’d understand I have wants and needs that warrants me needing to work as well as going to school. Enough of my venting, can you tell this has been a slight issue around here!

My fellow classmates, what do you do in this situation? Do you work and go to school full time making it work or is working and going to school full time too much for you? Maybe you need a break now and again. Please share with me by commenting below if you take breaks and how it affects you.

Thoughts from a college student

Blog! Blog! Blog! All around campus I hear about student bloggers or vloggers, who would think I would start one as well. I thought it would be the thing to do now that I have gotten settled as a college student… if you call my life, as a college student, settled!

I have so much to write about and this blog will be entertaining since I’m living the life as a college student trying to staying sane as a student, trying to stay on track, feeling bad because I tend to tap into mom and dad’s pocket book all the while trying to save money as a full time college student who wants to break away from living with her parents is much what you’ll hear out of me.

I plan to keep this blog real and being real sometimes sucks for the one we’re being real about so I chose stay anonymous. I have to stay chillaxed and can’t do that with my professors, friends, and family members all upset reading my blog because I gave it to you the way it really is. Giving it to you 100% makes for a much more interesting blog anyhow.

Sound like drama, huh? I plan to bring more then just my drama to this blog. Throughout time I will take a new college student or others like me by the hand and help make their life as a college student successful and fun. As I often say, Good times!
