What classes should I take my first semester?

As you read before in ‘Starting college mid year’ you know I’m getting ready to go back to school after a little break Going back to school brings me to the big decision in what classes should I take for my first semester? I know I want to head into business or marketing as a major but I’m still unsure on which way to go. My friends think business management and marketing are not for me, they expect me to go to a trade school for fashion or web design, but really, business management is great for me. My plan is to work my way up the corporate ladder into an upper management role until I blow their socks off and run the business myself or venture off into running my own company after I gain as much experience as possible. Sounds like a pipe dream, it’s not! I have a master plan!

Back to what classes I should take this semester, our on-site counselor feels I should take Mathematical Analysis for Business II, Economics History, Business Statistics, and Managerial Accounting course to stay on track. My parents were with me when the counselor and I went over this so… my parents want me to take that direction as well.

I was hoping to take courses that would be more interesting but I’m aiming to please Moms and Pops all because I just got back from my little vacation from school which displeased them greatly! My parents really believe following my consolers recommendations will not only keep me on track but it’s there way of knowing I’m taking the right courses. I suppose their right and will do as they want until the get over this whole break thing!

Anyhow, what’s your major and what courses are you taking this semester? I hope to find others who are taking the same courses as me; maybe we can help each other along the way! Please share what courses your taking and what your major is by commenting below.

Things to do before classes start

Classes start soon and there is still a long list of things for me to do. I have credits to transfer from the community college courses I took last summer. I have to make sure that my grants and loans go through on time to buy my books and to pay for my courses. I have to get my laptop fixed, it’s running uber slow, and I should get out and party a bit being studying is about to consume my many nights ahead!

Most of my general credits were taken at the local community college here in town and I need to transfer my credits over to the new college I’m going to. I was worried that my credits wouldn’t all transfer over but being the requirements are the same at my new school and it wasn’t that long ago that I took the courses my counselor let me know that they would transfer over just fine. Good news is always great!

My loans and grants were approved but the funds aren’t physically in my possession. Naturally, I’ll worry about the moola arriving on time until it reaches the moola is in my hands and my courses and books are paid for. I don’t worry much on a regular, but the parents are all stressed over the little break I took and asking them for money at this moment wouldn’t be the best idea (remember I took time off to work and to save money, letting them know I’m broke wouldn’t be the best thing right now)!

Then we have the laptop on my list! It is slow, no viruses… just slow. I had my geek friend look at it and he thinks I need some added software, more memory, and he will clean out all the garbage I don’t use to give me more space. This has to be done soon. I can’t stand using computers at the library nor do I like to use my parent’s computer. I like to do things on my own time on my own computer.

Once these things are done then I’ll be at peace. I’m just trying to be as prepared as I can be with the new semester around the corner. I do very well when I’m better prepared for school. How do you get prepared for school? Please share by commenting below.
